Flourish tabs - how to use?

Ok - I've decided to make a second try in my life at a sword plant. I just picked up a Echinodorus martii. Last time I didn't do any root feeding, so I decided after a lot of reading to try that.

I picked up some Flourish tabs to dose along with my usual. I've never used them before. I put 2 tabs out about 2-3" from the sword. Is this the correct way to use them. It didnt' come in a pot, so it has pretty short roots at the moment!!

That sounds fine. It will take a week or more for the roots to start taking in nutrients and then you will be pleasantly surprised. When it gets larger insert the root tabs further away to encourage root development. Good roots leads to healthy plants which leads to reproduction.

I was wondering - would it make some sense to put more around the tank in heavily planted areas? My thought is it would be a reserve if I am not dosing 100% correctly and perhaps "recharge" the eco-complete under the gravel. Thoughts?

Bump - and one last question. I have eco-complete covered by gravel, but I doubt I can completely bury the flourish tab in the eco-complete. In other words, if the tab is under the gravel, the nurtients probably won't stay contained in the gravel. Will this cause an issue?
