changing water more often then once a week?

So i've been doing some replanting and rescaping in my tank recently, and everytime i move my gravel(flourite red) i get dust(i cleaned the flourite very well before i added it) and was wondering if it was ok to do smaller water changes throughout the week instead of doing one big one once a week? i just dont like all the dust and crud sitting in my gravel. tank is a 55 gal, 2x 54w t5, pressurized co2, EI dosing, Thanx

You are not going to hurt anything. Watch your plants and dose accordingly. EI doses in excess, thus the water change.

Why are you moving plants around constantly. Find something that works and let it stick, or the plants will never stabilize and thrive.

As a whole the 50 percent change is the easiest way to do EI. That being said I know people who do EI dosing with Discus with every other day changes.

Should note that several small changes does not equal out to one big change. They are not the same thing.

I'm more of an 'add a bit of ferts when the plants look like they need it' kinda person, so I don't personally use the EI method. However, from what I have read about it the dosing schedules count on the single water change every week to "flush" the system. I'm guessing that you'd be alright if you did an extra ~10% water change sometime before the 50% since the idea behind EI is to overdose the water column to begin with.

More frequent water changes can be benefical but not necessary. As long as you do one DEEP water change every week, additional smaller water changes are like candy to fish and plants.
