first time with root tabs

Hi,I am in the process of setting up an 85 gal. discus tank and will use root tabs for the first time under two swords and two red lotus and maybe some blyxa. assuming the pfs will be 2/12 to 3 inch's should the tabs be placed on the bottom than covered or is that to deep

Push em down deep, and one under each plant is plenty.
Some folk's me think's get a bit carried away with loading the substrate with root tab's or Osmocote.
I use root tab's made of osmocote which I freeze in ice tray with water, and replace them about every four month's.

Thanks I agree with the overuse and want to add as little of anything to this tank as the fish are going to be the priority so will keep plants against back wall to give them plenty of swim space.
