KH, pH -> CO2 question...

I know the chart that gives the relationship between KH and pH. However...

My tap water has KH =2. I use baking soda (used to use Alkaline Buffer) to raise KH to 6.

pH of tap is 8.0. Running CO2 down to pH 6.6, according to chart should be 48!

OTH, if I use the original KH = 2, then my CO2 is only 16.7.

Just double checking that I have this right. By raising KH using baking soda, I have effectively increased my CO2? I am beginning to question the amt of CO2 in the water. The fish are never near breathing heavily. When I first started using CO2, there were times when their respiration was quicker, at the same pH I am running now. Perhaps I am oxygenating better.

Only change in tank was switching from Alkaline Buffer to baking soda. Could either of these cause a false reading?
