Hi! Not sure what to do

I’m cycling my tank with dosing ammonia.
My ammonia goes away and the nitrites are very high

Yesterday, when ammonia was 0 I dosed to about 2ppm of new ammonia

Today, my pH dropped to the weakest yellow color (6) and most of ammonia was gone as well.

Ph in my tank has been at constant 7 so far. It’s about 7.2 when straight out of the tap

Is that normal for the ph to drop?
Should I do a water change?
Or it’s what supposed to happen?

Help!
Thank you
-L

EDIT: decided to do a water change.
Changed out about 70% of the water.
Ph gone up to 6.4.... still pretty low tho
Redosed ammonia Up to 2ppm
Let’s see what happens tomorrow

Check this out. http://www.drtimsaquatics.com/resources/how-to-start

I have a similar occurrence in my cycling tank and found this article helpful for what I was seeing. Towards the bottom, they talk about the conversion of ammonia and nitrite by the bacteria creating an acid which will ultimately reduce your pH. I think based on that and the high levels of nitrite you're seeing, the conversion of ammonia is creating enough of the acid to noticeably lower your pH. I assume this balances out after the tank has cycled but don't have much to back that up.

Every day with this cycle is a roller coaster ride.
My ammonia disappears and so does the Ph While nitrites are sky high no matter what I do

Doing daily water changes now to try and get over the low pH hump.

Like a mad scientist with my test tubes!

Hope your process is going smoother than mine 🙂

Cheers!
