lighting suggestion for waterbox clear 16

guess i am finally getting into the FW planted game with a WB clear 16 ( 24x12x14 )

this will be my 1st planted tank and I want to go all in and make a great scape with thriving plants.

tank will use RO or RODI water be high tech and hopefully very heavily planted.

plants will include ( still learning about all this) but will have

~monti carlo for a carpet with maybe some hair grass here and there

~ buce

~anubus

~ some moss i do like moss

hard scape will be rocks either lava, jade or dragon stone

substrate will be ADA or tropicia

so lets talk lighting. I am a big fan of pendent style lights so you dont have to move them when doing tank stuff + you can have the hard scape out of the water.

I love my AI prime on my nano reef... seems not many ppl use the FW version? a little more than I was hoping to spend on this project for lighting tho.

any other pendent lights worth looking into?

can any of the ADA knock off be ceiling mounted? thinking twin star, chihiros ect?

IDK how would you light this tank?

I have the chihiros wrgb 2. The only difference between the first and second generation is apparently the power brick. The one on mine is pretty cheap feeling so I can only imagine how bad it was on the first generation version. It comes with a chinese plug and super cheap adapter for US plugs. I would recommend buying a better adapter (mine is currently held in with a rubber band as I haven't gotten around to buying a better adapter yet and the weight of the plug will pull itself free form the cheap one it came with).

As for the light itself, its pretty decent. The build feel of the light itself is nice and the app is solidly OK. Not great, and annoying to reprogram but it definitely works and the settings stay so long as the light has power. If power goes out the light will not reload the settings without you reconnecting to the light via the bluetooth app.

Even with all that negative I still like the light and if I had it to do over again I would still buy it. For the price point its provides a bright option with good flexibility.

thank you for the feedback!

looks like the price is around $200 for 60cm or about 24" tank not sure i need wall to wall coverage but it does give me upgrade options.

but for the price point I might go with AI prime 16HD I have used there stuff on SW tanks and love it.
kinda shocked to see not that many reviews on it.

AI Primes are costly so not as many folks use them. It also seems like they come out with new versions every year. Maybe that's just my perception though. If you don't mind diy (or something non conventional) then for a small tank you could easily use a 1 or 2 br30 smart bulbs. I am doing my own build with a smart bulb now. Thanks to a software update on amazon echo, they now can control not only colors and schedules but also sunrise and sunset effects.

Love my a.i. primes (5) on a waterbox 143 and a 55 gallon acrylic. Nice looking and great plants. Go to waterbox site, scroll to lights, and select lite, heavy or fish only light plan. My tanks are set to lite planted and running pressurized co2 with a .8 to .9 ph drop. Crypts wendtii form a dense, lush carpet. Like pendants vs conventional for access. No lid, run automatic top off for evaporation Very impressed with light.

Yeah here’s how yours will look if you decide on getting it. I run the light maxed out and pump heavy co2 with heavy ferts. Dump water at the end of the week and start over. Grows plants very well. Perfect spectrum and color to my eyes opinion.

wow 5 AI primes? got a pic of your tank? I was looking at the WB site the other day and noticed they did have lighting schedules for FW planted.

I asked this question of the FB ADA nature group most ppl seem not to like the AI primes. IDK seems like the chihiros WRGB 2 would have a better resale if i decided I not like FW planted.

24 inches ≈ 60cm a twinstar 600 would do you good for around $150 totally worth it in my opinion.

I just got back in recently and tossed one of my Radion G4 Pros over my Waterbox Cube 20 using the freshwater planted aquarium profile (set to 30% intensity).
