Which beamswork should I buy?

I want to start a 20 long dirted tank with medium light and plants. The most demanding plants would be dwarf sag, s repens, rotala H’ra and macrandra, and alternanthera reineckii. Should I get the da fspec or the da 6500k .5 watt one?

I would get the fspec. It has a nice color and is powerful. Better to have too much than too little to give you overhead. However, too much doesn't mean that you should use all of it. I suggest this timer/dimmer so that you can control the overhead: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

ok thanks! Do you think it’s a good light for the plants I’m trying to grow?

Yes, I've used it on dwarf sag, macrandra (mini), and alternanthera reineckii (and AR mini). It has very good PAR and PUR. All lights will fade with time. My fspec faded after about a year, but that appears to be an outlier. It won't be something that you notice, but is measurable with a PAR meter. Still, it is among the better lights in that low price range.

i have one on my 20h. it will grow all of the plants you listed. agree with deanna, get a dimmer/timer. get this one. $10 and made by beamswork, although the one she linked will work (as does the one by nicrew).

great! I have a timer but what’s the point of the dimmer? Do you think it’s too much light? I will have salvinia minima in that tank too so it’ll block some light

Interesting; that's different from my original Beamswork timer. It must be a new one. The timer I suggested has 8 events (on and off are 1 event). how many does this new one have?

sorry, i mean no harm.
the beamswork has 6 settings. i just use the 30min (S3) ramp and up and down times.

yes, in a 20l, it probably would be too strong. in fact, i run mine at 80% (able to grow monte carlo among other carpeting plants).

Didn't mean to imply that I was offended, just clarifying. Typed communication is so often difficult to deliver what was intended.
