Lighting for Landen 60P

Looking for a fixture for my new landen 60P rimless 17g tank measuring 24x12x14. I preferably want a sleek fixture to fit the room. I don’t have much of a preference between T5 or LED. I want this scape to be light hungry and need something with enough PAR for even the highest light needs.

I am willing to spend up to $500 for the right fixture but obviously the less I spend the better.

Twinstar 600S/SP, Beamswork, 2x24" T5HO fixture. SBReeflights would be overkill. Any single point source light like AI Primes would leave the ends of your tank significantly less bright than the center unless you use 2 of them. You have a rather shallow tank so most of the big name lights will work just fine for you. All you need is between 80-100 PAR for the most demanding, light hungry plants. Some say you need even less.

You're welcome. If you decide on that light my LFS carries a dimmer/timer module with 8 set points. It also does 0-100% ramp up/ramp down. I'll point you to it if you'd like.

The dimmer module doesn’t affect the ballast?

The dimmer module is between the power supply and the light so no it doesn't.

Light doesn't have spread for a tank bigger than ~75cm, no dimmability, adjustment of spectra, the hanging options aren't great unless you custom build. The fit and finish is cheap (heat fins aren't sanded flat and are razor sharp. Penetration depth isn't great. Color doesn't pop as good as on Twinstar or ADA RGB (which this unit is trying to replicate). For 500 dollars you can get a lot more bang for your buck!
Jeff5614 and ipkiss like this.

Would a T5 4x24 be too much light for this set up? I saw a nice one that I liked. I plan on doing an automated c02 system too.

It was a Giesemann fixture I saw at a LFS. If it’s too much light I’ll happily go the LED route. Just preferably want a nice design since the tank is in the living room.

@Meowsers little off topic but how do you like your landen tank? I am kind of eyeballing the same size/brand tank to replace my 10g aqueon. Seems from what I have read the quality is good for a decent price point in comparison to some of the other more expensive versions or the lesser quality similar price versions.

How about a white AI Prime freshwater..
Technically at 24" it's a bit weak (18" is more of the sweet spot.) but plenty of power for that size tank

It's bigger brother is 2x as powerful but about 3x the cost w/ all options..

Light, diffuser, arm and reeflink is over $600

Another not so "slim" option
