My Fluval Fresh&Plant 3.0 just died on me. Looking online for information (how-to, parts, or repair) and Fluval lists nothing for lighting on their web site, directly. Google leads me to some pages on their site, but they seem to be leftovers - not connected to any of their site menus. Is Fluval still offering lighting? This was a pretty pricey unit, so disappointed that it didn't last very long. Not keen on spending the big $ on another one.
Any suggestions for something to fit a standard 20 gal. tank with no cover? (Basic plantings - Swords, Anubis, Elodea, Crypts. Micro Swords that spread but aren't strong growers. Dose with Excel and ferts).
This unit is about 15 mos. old. Did some bench testing, and it is definitely the power supply (light strip works when I connect it to a 24v battery). No power out on the 24v side of the supply. Called Fluval this morning before seeing this, and they would be happy to sell a replacement, but advise I shop around...hmmm. A few vendors offer them, for the 2.0 version but with the same model number - the 24v plug is different on the older version. Called Fluval back, and they could not confirm which version of the same model power supply they would send me if I bought it. Guess I'll have to see if I can find my receipt for a warranty claim, and then go through the process of getting an RA, etc. to get an entire replacement unit.
Thanks to Seattle_Aquarist for the tip about the warranty!
No go on finding the receipt. Kind of a long drive to the LFS to see if they would reissue me one for the light purchased 15 mo ago. Fluval wanted about $60 for the power supply (incl. shipping and tax). Took a minute for the brain cells to kick in, but did an Amazon search - a 24v higher capacity supply with a 5x2.1mm plug runs about $10. So now the inhabitants will only be in the dark for 2 more days, rather than however long a warranty return would take.....
Damned flex 32.5gal 30" aquasky 2.0 replacement / 2nd light (14549 item code) basically can't be bought in the US. Even though it's in their replacement parts on their website it's seemingly impossible to order as it rejects any address I put in, says no shipping methods. I am not willing to pay a foreign vat as well as like $25+ in overseas shipping
C'est la vie... I wanted to spread the light out more so a 24" 3.0 kinda fits...
Thinking I might take out the anubias and there's a sword in the back temporarily and convert to a borneo biotope (with or without the shrimp block things...) not entirely sure what shrimp are endemic to borneo but I know there are some... maybe Boraras and or a betta maybe eventually after the shrimp are established. Not entirely sure where to order borneo ironwood either I suppose I could just use malaysian driftwood :/, i think the suckers are more clearwater than blackwater fish...
Or I could go south american maybe.
I guess bamboo shrimp exist in borneo but I don't really want to do them... caridina peninsularis, bruneiana, gracilipes, or thambipilaii... I can't find anywhere, so maybe some caridina that don't actually live in borneo or no shrimp at all... maybe this lady who lives near me's sulawesi (not cardinal) shrimp would be borneoish :/ or no shrimp and trigonostigma heteromorpha and bororas of some kind? I dunno it's still cycling :/
whoops totally replied to the wrong thread but uhh kinda fits sorta...
