How are they not uprooting/eating your plants?

Some of them eat the young leaves! and some of the plants don't resist for a long time. They can't uproot the plants cause I have put slates all aroud them for support and to prevent the fish from moving away the gravels. The echonodorus are quite resistant and I have recently added some Crinum which are more resistant.

My tank look no longer like this. My tank cracked on one side it was just a great panic at home due to the 240 gals and 40-50 cichild. I have tried a repair which seem to have solve the problem. i am changing the scaping nowadays and i will surely try much more plants..and i will post new photos soon
