misters vs. ultrasonic humidifier???
i am new to all of this and am getting as much info as possible before i jump into it. i have read of people using misting systems and humidifiers and was wondering if the humidifier will actually work good enough in a vivarium or if this is just a cheap replacement for a mister that over time will have bad consequences????

I used to have an ultrasonic fogger hooked up to my 30g vivarium and it would keep me from ever having to mist the tank down or refill my reservoir. so plenty of water comes from it. so, yes, it "could" be considered a cheap substitute for a misting unit.
my current 110g vivarium has both a fogger and misting system though. here is a pic of my 30g and fogger system: unit ![]() effect ![]() effect in my 110g

my recommendation would be to just go with a external humidifier like mine, but also hand-spray a little bit a few times per week. that will be more than enough to keep the bromeliad happy. I had bromeliads living in that tank for 3 years without a mister. you would be surprised how much water is actually added to the tank via the fogger. they work great.
it is a 180g predatory tank on the other side of the vivarium. here is a picture of all my setups. there have been a few updates since (i.e. trimming back the massive plants in the vivarium, but this gives a overview nonetheless
