Wild-Caught Lizard

I get these cute little geckos and lizards in my back yard around my pond all the time. Has anyone ever tried keeping one of these in a terrarium? This one is a baby, so I let it go into a big elephant-ear plant.

Looks like a House Gecko. I used to have two, great little geckos! they reqquire high humidity and love climbing places, so your elephant ear is great. Of course, they are nocturnal so you wont get a lot of activity out of them with the lights on. I used to use on of those purple nocturnal lights in the evening to watch mine.

I know it looks like a Gecko, but I'm not sure this one is. It couldn't be more than a few days old, so it is hard to tell. I'm not an expert, though, so you could be right. The lizards that I suspect are the little guy's parents are usually green and about 3"-4" long (minus tail). The male raises his head and bellows out a reddish throat when he's calling his mate. I'll try and get a picture of them.

I too, think that is a baby house gecko.
The green guys you described, sound like common green anoles.
I am posting a couple of pics. The first is a set of adult house geckos, the second and third are common green anoles.
Whatever it is, it's a cutie.
We used to have them in my kitchen pantry, when I lived in Jax, FL.

You guys have got to be right. I hadn't seen any geckos around in a while so I just assumed these had to be Anole offspring, since I see those all the time.
I've been tempted to catch one and try keeping it. What would I feed it? I'm going to do some research before I try capturing one and finding out it has specialized dietary needs.

Fruit Fly cultures work well, although you are probably going to want to dust them with Reptile vitamins (growing babies need all the extra help they can get!)

When the little cutie gets bigger you can feed him/her gut packed crickets of varying sizes, although you will need to start with pinhead crickets.

As long as you supplement the insect diet with reptile vitamins you should be ok... Anoles were my second choice to the Dart frogs :-)

I came accross a very similiar baby gecko tonite and couldnt resist. My son has a 1 1/2 year old leapord gecko and thought it would be neat to bring one up from that small. Have you found out what this baby creature needs? What should it be fed? Does it need water in its environment? Is there a proper temerature/humidity for such a young animal?
What about lighting and natural/living foliage?

I have seen these little cuties all over my house in Hattiesburg... However, my brother just recently caught a couple for his little kids! I would really like to know what they need to survive in captivity. Will fruitflies be enough , or do they have any vegetarian dietary needs? Also, do they need a water cup to swim & play in?

I looked into what these things need to be kept in captivity and it's more than I felt like bothering with so I let the little guy go near my pond. You've got to culture fruit flies since most wild-caught lizards and geckos usually won't take artificial food.
These don't need to swim or anything. They do need a cool area and a warm area (rock sitting under a warm bulb) to regulate their body temperatures, though.

At lizard specialist pet stores they offer very small crickets, about the size of a pencil eraser. They are good for a smaller reptile. I know adult anole & lepoard or fattail gecko can take full size crickets but I'm not familliar with house geckos. There are powered vitamins for reptiles that should be dusted on the food.
