Nice start!!! I would ad air plants and a huge clump of pella or some floating plants in the water part. Some red root floaters would look nice and add color.

Thanks! It's my first go at this so I'm winging it as I go along. The water part isn't finished yet. I'll be putting a low border at the entrance to the false bottom and then add some gravel. That way, the gravel wouldn't spread into the false bottom and the fish can still swim as they please. I have some liverwort that looks like a bigger form of pellia off to the left of the stream that'll hopefully grow into the water part. There'll also be some plants growing out of the water.

Air plants will be last. Maybe a red Earth Star for the color. It's all too green now. Always wanted to keep a nice orchid, but I've never had much luck with them. If I find a small one, I'll probably try again.

Well, I've got the stream up and running! What a fun project this is turning out to be.

Remember the moldy bread experiment we did as kids? Fungi and mold love these kinds of environment. Fungi in a vivarium/terrarium is quite normal and most should go away in a couple weeks. It usually happens in new setups, and it'll come and go in others. Could be that it's too wet, or maybe not enough plants. Most fungi and mold are harmless to the inhabitants.

In the meanwhile, you could try to manually remove it. Some people have success controlling it by providing some kind of ventilation. I wouldn't try any commercial products if you're keeping some livestock in there, especially frogs. I'm just starting to learn about all this, so my knowledge here is very limited.

Try Keong Seong at Havelock Road for the cork bark. They sell it by weight.

I did get a bit of white fungus, but it went away. I'll give you the address of the shop via private msg.

Finally finished on the hardware, now to kick back with a cold beer and watch plants grow.

WOW that looks stunning. Makes me want to do one. Your step by step instructions are also very helpful.
Great work. Waiting for updates

Great start but you'll have to cover up the egg crate stuff.
Since it's kind of squarish you might get a more natural look if you break up the main lines.

Something fresh and green leaning over the stream and something a little more plump to divide the driftwood.

REAL nice start though.

My guess is that he is waiting for the moss to cover the eggcrate, am I correct?

That's right. I've been moving plants around, and experimenting with different moss/liverworts to drape over the "banks".

seeing as the soil is going to stay very moist why not plant some anubias and crypts emersed beside the stump and waters edge to provide foliage.
