amanda's 6g nano
Unlike my 29g, this tank is still fairly new -- couple months maybe? I'm happy with how it's turning out so far. I started it with h.polysperma and wisteria, and once it was pretty established, I switched to crypts, ferns & lymnophila sessiflora. It's kinda hard to see any detail because it's a dark substrate with a dark background and some pretty dark driftwood.
![]() And here's the latest inhabitant... ![]() I've got what I'm hoping is a pair of cobalt apistos in here. And before y'all jump on me about the tank being too small, they're still quite young (you can see how small in the lower left of the 1st pic) and they can move into the 29g when they outgrow this tank. Or (and I can't believe I'm even thinking this), I could set up a larger tank for them (gah, where would I even put it??).

Thanks Wolf. I'll try to post some more pics of these two -- the male is already showing some beautiful colouring.
I've always wanted cichlids, but I never wanted to give up having a community tank. Apistos are great

"There's always room for 3 more tanks", atleast my wife thinks that is my version of that saying.
Pretty little tank, did you know apisto's are generally fine in community tanks? They will out grow that tank as soon as they spawn and mamma wants daddy to go away for a while.

Here are a few pics of my apistos, soon to be moving to their new 20g
This is the male (his colour's much nicer IRL, much bluer)... ![]() ![]() ...and I'm pretty sure this is a female (you can see how her dorsal fin is more rounded)

Thanks Wolf! Yeah, that does look a lot like my guys, but mine are much bluer than they appear in the pics, including the fins. Hard to tell tho, since they're still pretty young. Their colour may continue to develop. And the male, while he has the long pointed dorsal fin, hasn't developed a pointed tail yet -- it's still rounded.
Does the female only show yellow colouring when she's ready to spawn? I think the pics are a bit blurry and grainy, personally, but I'm new to aquarium photography. I'll get better. I'm using a Canon 10D. I think those pics were all handheld (because the fishies wouldn't hold still!), so I had the ISO set really high to compensate -- hence the grain.

Nice tank, Amanda.
If you think a lace java fern would look nice I could clip a small piece for you in a month or two. Let me know. I'll need to crop by then.
