^ I missed that post. Thanks for the kind words.

I have nothing new to report, but I just wanted to share this picture: (sorry for the quality)

Apparently, this is the pygmy cories' new pasttime. I don't know if they all do it, or if it's the same one or two all the time, but it's cute! I'm guessing they like the feeling of the bubbles on their underbelly?

The first time I saw one of them doing this, I did a doubletake, because I thought it was dead. So I immediately got sad and pulled out my net to scoop it out... lo and behold, it was quite alive, and appeared to just be enjoying itself in the way we would enjoy a dip in the jacuzzi or something. And there's pretty much always at least one doing this at any given moment I happen to look at the tank.

Silly, cute little cories!

This is why cories are awesome and will always have a home in at least one of my tanks.

Unhappy Last and final update

Yeah, the time has come. I have to be out of my ex-girlfriend's apartment by this weekend so her new roommate can move in on the 1st. I couldn't find a buyer, so I just dismantled the tank today. This way I am able to keep the 3MCQ, since that stuff is apparently hard to get these days. And I get to keep the manzanita, although I don't know when I'll get to use it again. At least I'll have some for when I do.

The plants have been pulled and are currently residing in a 5g bucket. I will be changing the water in this bucket every day for the next week or so until I get the new stand for my 20-long. So hopefully I can keep the plants alive and reasonably well until then.

The fish, and the lone amano, have all been moved to my 10g. The pygmy cories and the amano will stay there permanently, while the rummynose will be moved to the 20g when that's all cycled and ready to go.

I think that about covers everything. This tank is now history. Thanks to everyone who followed along or checked in every now and then. I think, ultimately, I've decided that I won't ever use a tank with these crappy dimensions ever again. It really was a PITA to get my hands down in there. These 45-talls are probably perfect for old-world cichlids, and they definitely work perfectly for FOWLR tanks (saltwater acronym, look it up! ) since that's what this tank was for many many years before converting it over, but for planting they are just not worth the effort.

At least I know that from personal experience now, instead of taking someone else's word for it.

Anyway, my 2.5g and my 10g are alive and well, so feel free to join me in those journal threads...
