Rimless 75 Gallon - Where's the equipment?
Hello Everyone
I thought I would start a journal of my Rimless 75 gallon tank.... Having a rimless tank is very fun, not only because there is no rim, but because I don't have a canopy so I can see the plants from the top all the time, I can enjoy floating plants, and I get to see the water ripple a little The tank is high light with a TEK 4X54 Watt fixture with 2 Giesemann middays and 2 Aquamedic Ocean Whites. Photoperiod is 7 hrs for all bulbs...we'll see how this goes. Before I was having only 2 bulbs for 8 hrs. with all 4 for only 3 hrs. Substrate is Eco-complete and the CO2 is pressurized with 5lb tank and Milwaukee regulator and DIY CO2 reactor. Ferts are E.I. and weekly 50%water changes The filtration is closed loop with a Ocean Clear 340 and Iwaki WMD-40RLT pumping 700-800 gph Right now I have a pair of dominant breeding angels, 3 SAE, and a couple black mollies. The angels will be going soon for some schooling rummynose and bloodfin tetras. The angels are beautiful, but they breed so much, dominating one whole side of the tank. Be patient as much still has to fill in, particularly the crypts and R. rotundifolia in the back left. I'm also doing something with the ugly R. macranda. My CO2 was messed up for a while and that went to %h*t fast. The latest pictures. I enjoy lots of criticism and comments! Cheers, Matt ![]() ![]() ![]()

oh yea.. very nice looking tank. i love the floating plants. I am considering adding a floating plant again once I get my 75-p as i've read a lot of fish are more comfortable with a floating plant for shade from the light. maybe i can even induce some breeding ! that'd be awesome.
keep us updated. I'd also like to see the bulkhead setup. Is this a custom tank?

Tanks is from Glasscages.com. Very nice price, but poor service and tank build is questionable. They were very sloppy with the silicone. The build itself is very strong structurally though!
You can see the outputs in the second pic. It is a loclines split into two lines. One shoots down the back of the tank and the other shoots to the front of the tank. The input is on the other side underneath the ferns. It is just a screen intake. I can get a pic later. Thanks for the nice comments! |

Anyone venture to guess what those breeding angels are worth to a breeder?
