I nipped a couple of leaves off of my apongeton that went from tip to end of stem the length of my arm. Was just shy of my shoulder. I'm a pretty average sized grown woman.

Feel bad for the plant? It's darn happy. Flowering and turning into a rather large monster. It isn't going to miss the two leaves. There's 12 more at least on it and the big ones were blocking light. Had spread across the length of my tank. I see two more that are nearly as big now that I've thinned the jungle a bit.

It all depends on what plant sprouts from the bulbs.. There are a few different species that come in those "wonder bulbs"

I had partial success with these bulbs. The Hybrid Apongeton bulbs never reponded even after 15 days, then started to grow some white fungus thingy, thats when I removed them and put them in a temporary tank. Still after 25 days no change, so just threw them away. Well for the lily bulbs, of the 6 bulbs I planted one started to grow after 18 days and now I have small beauty, and the other one started after 23 days and is still in very small leaves. Oh by the way, there is picture in the following link where you can see the walmart lily bulb plant growing and pearling.

It is growing still, and I hope it doesn't occupy half of my tank.. :P .. about the bulbs I am thinking of sending them back.. i just have to post them.. but right now I am busy fighting the thread algae in my tank.. and once I am done with that.. probably the first thing I will do is post them... but if you consider other plants in my tank.. and look at this one.. I am happy spending the two bucks for these two bulbs.. it doesn't have any algae on it, and it has its own clock I guess. You can see all the leaves coming together and forming a vertical V shape in the night just before I am about switch off the lights, and with early morning sunrise, they start to open up slowly.. also its leaves are so thin... and wave in the water.. it is worth a try.. 8)

One of mine took 2 months to sprout, but it was worth the wait.. the bulb has put out four separate plants.
