Thanks! Ya, they are great little fish. I would suggest trying to find the Espei though instead of plain Harlequins. Much prettier.

I just made up a new mixture of CO2 for my Hagen unit. It's pumping out a bubble in just over one second. I hope my fish will be ok in the morning!

Love the SE Asian theme myself, and the bamboo is killer! I wonder if those little live bamboo stalks you see in pots would live immersed, their leaves above water level?

No they don't, they rot after a short time.

New readings from just now:

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0.025
Nitrate 5 ppm (possibly a bit lower...hard to tell)
Phosphate 0.5 ppm
dKH 3.2

Teeny bit of nitrite left, so cycle is quite nearly done. Nitrate and phosphate are both getting quite low. Should I start dosing??? dKH doubled since last week...odd???

DOH! Just read the caption under the picture I quoted. I think it is about time for me to call it a day.

Haha! You guys don't actually read this thread do you? You just look at the pics! In fact, the last sentence before that photo says if you look close you can see the lone Espei in with the Harlequins!

UPDATE:

I found more Espei!! I got them from a store who just orders "Harlequins", and some are Espei, and some are Harlequin. I pointed it out to her, so she knows now, and took all the Espei! So I bought 5 more Espei, which means I have 6 now. I'm giving away the Harlequins. I also picked up a couple Ottos, which aren't Asian, but we're just gonna have to pretend, ok?

I would just keep the harlequins. I have some of each and they are good fish to keep together because they school with one another.

You gotta love those rasboras.

Ya, they are great, but that would make a total of 11, and too many for my 10g! I like the Espei much more.

I removed the lava rocks because I found some flat red rocks that go well with the Flourite. I'm battling that BGA with all my might. I did an 80% waterchange yesterday, and added some Excel and ferts. I trimmed my Hygro since it was overpowering the left side, so I trimmed the top off, and threw away the middle chunk where most of the BGA was, and shoved the tops into the Flourite. It actually seems to be a bit better in the last few days. I also found more Espei, so I removed the Harlequins. Current fauna: 6 Espei, 1 male Betta, 2 Otos (let's pretend the Otos are Asian ok?).
