Plants can be shipped from US to Canada? I didn't know that...I haven't looked much since I didn't think it was possible.

sure, but the wait is long for customs.
but thats not what i was talking about. most of the big guys there ship from asia. so they dont care if you are in the US or canda. on aquabid.com the stuff is market with a globe to symbolize shipping as global, a US flag to symbolize US only, or 1/2 canadian flag and 1/2 american for canada or US. of those, only the one that is just a US flag will not get shipped to Canada.

I think I'm going to try "Pellia" moss (I can't remember the proper name for it), unless some tells me it's a poor choice! I really like the look of it.

I gotta figure out what to do with this non-Asian grassy stuff though...I would like to keep it for when I set up my 75g, but that won't be until fall I'm sure.

What's the Kelvin rating for the bulb? It looks a little too yellow to grow plants successfully...

^ It doesn't say, but it's Philips "warm white", but it is definately too yellow, the Kelvin is way too low. BUT, it's all I could find!!!! The choice in 18" bulbs is really poor. I will check the LFSs.

nice tank. yeah i had bamboo in a tank before and every time i pulled it out to clean there was weird nasty white mold on the bottom where it met the substrate...ended up pulling em out in fear that it was messing with water chemistry.probly wasnt tho..

Ya, I haven't treated the bamboo...I've just seen it in other tanks, so I figured I would give it a try! Might work, might not.

There is a slight brown dusting of diatoms on the plants now. I think this is normal for a new tank.

The bamboo has slimy crap growing on it, but it has decreased. I'm keeping an eye on it.

I've been trying to get a good photo for three days. I finally figured it out! Comparing the two photos it looks like I'm getting just a teeny bit of growth. I found a lava rock on the beach yesterday, I'm just cleaning it now. I will try adding it, and take some more photos later. Not sure if it will go with my theme or not.
