ZTM's 10 gallon Journal - New fish 11/11/08!

I started this tank on April 22, 2007. I didn't think it was going to be a planted tank until I got my very first Java Fern. I started researching more and more plants and pretty soon I came up with this.

Tank:
10 gallon AGA 20 X 12 X 10

Equipment:
  • AquaClear 30 w/all media
  • 50 watt Marineland Stealth Heater
  • Turbo CO2 Bio-System w/diffusing pump
  • Standard incandescent hood that came with the tank
  • 2-40 watt CF (screw-in) 50/50 bulbs
Substrate:
  • Original Flourite and VERY LITTLE of the original gravel mixed in (from changing the gravel)
Plants:
  • Crypt Wendtii Green
  • Red Ozelot Sword
  • Amazon Sword
  • Rosette Sword
  • Tropica Sword
  • Pygmy Chain Sword
  • Java Fern
  • Windelov Fern
  • Rotala Rotundifolia?
  • Didiplis Diandra?
Fish: In my signature

This is 2/9/08 at approx. 10 am:

This is the tank right now when I changed the substrate to Flourite:

looks nice, just needs a foreground and maybe a slightly more defined midground (depending on how much of a foreground you want).

Very nice.

What do you think of the Turbo CO2 system? I was considering getting one for my tank.

It's a great CO2 system!!! Although in my experience, whenever you leave the venturi pump off for a couple of days, it gets a little clogged up and you have to rinse it out under the sink

Bump I want some comments on easy-low light plants (that won't block out the light from other plants) that can cover up the heater and powerhead in the back left hand corner. Plus comments.

some anacharis, or hornwort weighted down would work.

your tank is kinda disorganized. whats that plant in the front? its too tall and not carpeting. try making a moss carpet. and your ludwiga (its a ludwiga right? under the black rectangle) seems to be dying, its either from low light or lack of enough CO2.
