Update 8-27-06: My little 10g tank.

This is my first tank, though both of my tanks started about a month and a half apart from eachother, i'm quite happy with my 10g, it's got some hair algae and some diatoms at the bottom, but other than those little niggling things I think it's doing fairly well for my first tank.

And one of my cherries hiding under the hygro ceylon:

All the substrate you see there is going to be replaced next weekend. I'm going with a real substrate instead of the kinda poopy Petsmart stuff.

Looking good man. I'd personally remove the rocks, but that's just some aesthetic criticism. What substrate are you buying?

Seachem Onyx Sand. Something about the way it looks that I really like.

Your cherries should look sweet against the onyx.

Tank looks like it has very healthy growth.

What's the filtration?

esarkipato: The filtration right now is a penguin biowheel (getting phased out) and a eheim 2232.

Thanks architect!

Lovely tank. Will look great as it matures. Sadly i can't keep cherries like you do because of my angel and discus.

I'll do a bigger update most likely on sunday after the tank has calmed down from the weekly water change, but...I have my first fry ever. A little guppy I named Leeroy, he'll most likely be eaten, but I thought I'd share anyways.

Yummi. Live Fish Food.

Hmm... Wait a minute... That didn't sound right...

Poor little thing.

Much better. Can't wait for the update to see how things are growing.

Whelp, here's a week's progress on those plants, all of them have nearly grown over. You can't really see the little riccia rock I have going on in the corner, but even that seems to be growing quite well.

Finding your first fry is always fun, congrats!

Your plants look like they are growing nicely and the water looks really clear. That's great! As an opinion, the proportion of the tank seems off to me, as it looks really really small. Hmmm. maybe once your low-growing foreground plants fill in it will help balance it. I'm looking forward to seeing it as it ages!

Thanks, I've been growing the hygro mostly because it grows so fast and is an absolute nutrient sponge for me while the tank is getting established. Next weekend I'm finally replacing the substrate and will be slowly phasing out the hygro. I think my first "background plant" some rotala, and I'm also considering replacing my chain sword with some HC, but we'll see.
