I bought 39L of aquasoil for my 90g, and know that a lot of people use it on larger tanks (takashi amano included)...the only drawback is the obvious cost up front, but in my opinion it's well worth it. I went ahead and used powersand as well, since i have some areas of deep substrate, though as many have mentioned, it is unnecessary (i HATE spelling that word). I think you'll be pleased with your purchase if you do decide to go with the aquasoil - no quality control issues (more than can be said about some of the other substrates). Other ADA additives, like Bacter 100, Tourmaline, etc, I've heard good things about as well, but have no personal experience with them. Good luck! And can't wait to see your 120!

If your going to do it, its best to buy the best first then to waste money on a cheaper substrate your not happy with.

Just to give another bit of advice: Although I do recommend aquasoil hands down, there are some important idiosyncrasies you should be aware of including it's propensity to leech NH4/humus early on. To combat this multiple weekly water changes are done, sometimes to the tune of 2x daily; it's a good idea to check out some of the good, old AS threads and read up on cycling methodologies using AS. And, if you're they type of person who likes to consistently fuddle with aquascapes and plants, moving things around all the time, then this may not be your best bet, as the sediment will get stirred up fairly easily and discolor the water for a while.
