What is going on...

One of my Cardinal Shrimp was looking odd today so I took a photo and this is what her problem is...

From what I have seen of Cardinal Shrimp eggs they are dark and look nothing like this... Anyone care to comment? I have never seen anything like this on a shrimp.

Hi All,

Got it pretty well nailed down by Mustafa at Pet Shrimp and it is likely an external parasite. The shrimp has been moved to a separate tank for now and I guess I'll just wait and see what happens...

really? strangest parasites i've seen.

looks like dried up eggs.

Yeah i think it looks like one of those rare parasites you usually don't see in the trade. being that they're imports explains it. I doubt its life threatening.

Whats that website with most of them on it..... Can't think of the name at the moment......

Ps. I was looking and found something kinda funny, google freshwater dwarf shrimp and look to the right

Looks like a underwater plant. Probably the same stuff that grows on stationary objects. I have a couple of these sulawesi and they seem fairly stationary. Nonetheless isolating is a good idea.

Hi All,

It is not a plant per say but a fungus and here is more information...

The shrimp in question shows no real ill effects as yet and here is a photo..

BTW,,, Do you have a magnifying lens close by? I would have never caught that. Sharp eye!

Howdy Arnold,

My eyes are no longer sharp at 52, but I indeed do have a magnifying glass close to hand. Still with that it was difficult to see clearly enough to have a clue it was anything but greenish. So I got out the camera and took a good close up so I could see what the heck it was.
