Baby RCS

What is a way to prevent sucking up baby RCS with I'm cleaning/changing the water?

Don't catch them in the syphoon.

Its not hard, you're worrying about nothing really... just keep it a bit away from them.

You can just sort of gently move them out of the way when getting started and keep the tube in the substrate as much as possible when moving around. It can be a pain because mine can be more curious than wary expecting me to be feeding them when I disturb anything. When I reach into my tanks the darn shrimp swim up and land on my hands sometimes.

I use a very small low suction vacume with a 1/4 inch inside diameter and have no problem working around them. I do get one now and then and just put them back in the tank.

Just get a sponge like the ones from aquaclear etc and take a knife, slice a slit and push the hose into it. The sponge will prevent the shrimps from getting sucked in.

It's not really worth the risk and mind to go without. With the sponge you won't have to care/worry so much about sucking shrimps in, especially when your mind wonders.

i didn't even know there were baby shrimp in there until i changed the water...- -;
