The more you guys say not to buy it or no this and that, the more tempted I want to do it.

It's like the red button logic

I'm tempted to click the buy button and run for it! But I wont.

I don't think I would buy that shrimp even if it's waste was solid gold.

Im in for the group buy still. I can contribute $1.50 . If we get 2000 more people to contribute the same thing we can make the buy. Everybody can just paypal me the $ and I'll make the buy

Ah my friend.. that is what marketing is all about... I think kvntran got it right... create buzz... and people will come check out your business... hmm... what in my online retail stores would create so much buzz.... ha ha ha ha
I think a "Beautiful collectors ceramic watermelon serving dish, custom made and hand painted by a highly regarded yet secretive native chinese artist living in the Schesuan province. Thus this rare peice is unsigned and only stamped by the factory which made the china" would work nicely.
That would be a much more expensive sounding description than "Nice watermelon themed ceramic painted dish mass produced by chinese factory workers. "

"I have some really weird looking inbred shrimp and here's a cool one" versus "highly technical breeding facility produces rare shrimp genetic combinations for the serious collector of ornamental shrimp"

Think about Koi.. they are just carp after all.

Marketing.. it's all marketing..

Now.. what kind of weird chemical and/or radiation can I expose my shrimp to. I'd like to sell $3k shrimp myself.. I could retire, quit my job, and just play with my hobby for the rest of my live.. If I sold a shrimp a day, I'd be filthy rich IMHO.

I think breeding your own higher grade shrimp from lower ones is more exciting and fun than just buying one.

That bid actually pisses me off because every morning I see my used car, first thing that comes to my mind is:

"Great, even a shrimp costs more than my car now "

I second this, I remember my old used car (My friends and I call them WOODIES). It was a huge white Thunderbird, man if it was flipped over it would be mistaken for a boat .
