My nephew has no tank, little knowledge about shrimps. He visited my home during the summer break, saw my shrimps and ads, then took it upon himself to sell my shrimps. I only knew so when he forwarded all the emails to me. He's done with selling now because he's better being a student than a 'salesman'

Karen,

Thank you. You are right, these shrimps are extremely hardy. I guess it's the result of multiple failures. I had a total of 5 unique sources into this tank ranging for C to SS. For the last 2 years, I struggle from having close to 100 to down to around 15. I guess natural selection (or unnatural in this case) has an effect on this colony. The current population has the tough genes from the remaining 15.
So failure in keeping these shrimps might actually mean good!

After a week of re-scaping and the usual settling issues associated with this batch of ADA soil, the shrimp are in their new home. I really don't want any other shrimp but CRS in this tank. I love this little set up just had horrible issues with the aquasoil and not clearing up. Cleaned the Eheim today, did I mention I love Eheim's!!! Just little work horses.

Some are tiny others are become quite large. This tank has been from the very beginning a thorn in my side. With that said, I finally have the stock that I want in this tank. I have not been able to remove the pregnant green shrimp but I am trying to get a hold of them. If all goes well I would like to get my hands on another group of CRS to as Kevin has to strenghten the pool.

The water is still settling and I ran out of RO water!!

You can make a groundcover of marimo. The shrimp will like it and it will look like a carpet of grass.

My maternal side just can't move all these Mothers to be.
Count em' 4 very very pregnant green shrimp. I was able to get my mutts out of there before they reproduced. Yes this is the CRS tank. Please tell me I don't have a problem brewing.....

So just shy of one month the CRS/CBS are doing great. Not a single loss. Just making that statement scares me LOL
Their tank has been up since Feb, well aged. http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/ta...-via-aqua.html

These are not shy shrimp very active and seem happy. I absolutely love watching them fly around the tank. They love the driftwood. Doing about 30% water change each week. Feeding crab bites and a home made gel food that I feed to everything here.

So glad that I waited and learned a little more about shrimp keeping prior to acquiring CRS. Definitely worth the wait. What I have learned is that this breed needs absolute precise conditions to be healthy. I placed their tank intentionally in the coolest room in our home. If they were in the west side of our home I think we would have disaster looming during the summer months.
I'm reading and learning. Seems like with everyday I learn a little more about these shrimp and shrimp in general.

I love to look at shrimp tanks at night when the room is completely dark using my trusty Mag glass. Last night I was sitting there looking and over the top of the driftwood she came full of eggs. She is a brown crystal shrimp. Have not noticed any of the CRS/CBS that are berried yet.
Really excited

It's now Tuesday morning and last night just before turning of the lights noticed not one, but 2 berried RCS. The brown berried can't wait to see how those offspring turn out. Thats 3 berried!!!!

Just noticed that I lost one of my CRS~~~~
This is the first loss since buying them. No idea what happened water is fine. They had almost devoured it I could still see the beautiful tail that was left. All I can hope is that it was not one of the Pregnant ones.

Craig I meant to Thank You for your direction....I go back every few days and reread this thread to make sure in my mind that our parameters are on track.

Last night I sat on the floor in front of the tank while the room was dark with a very strong Mag glass watching, they were everywhere. A nice assortment of CRS & CBS. I'm Sooooo fascinated they are just adorable. We have 3 pregnant mamas so we will probably have quite a few of these little ones.
Interesting note unlike our green shrimp which spend no time on the bottom with adults, these babies are. They are flying around. Our greens are shy even the adults.

One reads & reads about CRS babies but until you have your own.....to me it is unlike any other shrimp in that their coloration allows one to see the shrimp so clearly from day one!!!
Indulge me......I'm so happy!!!!!!
