Shrimp ID

Hello, I collected a few of these shrimps a few months ago. They are on a 2.5 gallon that I use as a "nursery" for newborn guppy fry. There's also 8-10 cherry shrimp in there.
I went to the river, which connects to the beach a few meters down, because a friend of mine use them to feed almost all the specimens at an aquarium (mostly salt water specimens) and he told me about that place. You just have to get there with a bucket and a net and in 3 minutes you have 20-30 shrimps in your bucket. They were clear when I got them, then develop the white line. I wanted to use them as food for the discus but they are lightning fast swimmers.

Here's the picture, I love the white line on their backs !

ID please??!!

Thanks !!

As I wrote here, the similarity in coloration between genetically and geographically distant Atyid shrimp can be very striking.

No Caridina are native to the Americas; I suspect that these belong to some species of Potimirim. Here's a shrimp that I collected in Puerto Rico, probably also a member this genus:

Apart from Micratya and the cave-dwelling Typhlatya monae, one other genus of small Atyid shrimp, Jonga, occurs in Puerto Rico. These, however, typically occur close to river mouths (often in aquatic vegetation) and have longer rostrums than your photos indicate.

Just to clarify, how close to the sea, and in which river, were they collected? Did you see any other shrimp or prawns?

around 200 meters, very close. A few months ago I read about 2 new species discovered here in Puerto Rico. I got them at Rio Grande de Arecibo. Haven't collected since then but it's about 10-15 minutes from my home. Now I got really interested, next weekend I'll try to catch some more and take some pictures (they will be posted here!) ...also want to test the water.

I've never shipped fish or plants but I think it can be done if there's a real educational purpose... but it has to be express mail

Here are some pictures as close as I could get... notice that they have like small fans pointed to where the water is coming

The cherry shrimp wanted to appear on the picture

So do these little guys require brackish water for survival as young?
