cyfan964's 2.5 gallon nano
Whelp I've officially bit the bullet and am starting a 2.5 gallon nano. I spent about 1.5 hours yesterday making the tank rimless and cleaning up the silicone. I ran a water test last night and... SUCCESS!! No leaks.
I am going to be using ADA Amazonia powder for substrate with a small Hydor heater and a Red Sea nano HOB filter. Lighting is 27W CF daylight and I plan on using DIY CO2. I plan on having a carpet of some mini-pellia, downoi for midground, and Red Crypts for background.... with some moss covered Manzanita somewhere in the middle coming out of the surface of the water. I plan on stocking with 6-7 RCS. I am currently in the process of painting the back pane black... I'll post more pictures when that is done.

It looks good to me. You did a good job cleaning up the silicone. Don't let fishman see, because he broke a 5.5 gallon tank doing the same thing last night.

I've taken the rims off of a ton of little tanks. The key is sharp razor blades! I think I went through 6 brand new ones on that little tank. Haven't broken a tank yet *fingers crossed*. |

Sorry for the delay! I've been waiting on a few things to come in... mainly the ADA Amazonia. They said they had some on hand so I ordered, and then they emailed me and said they didn't have any of the 3L on hand so wondered if it would be ok if they sent a partial bag... blah blah blah. Anyway, I got everything set up today.
This is what I am looking at... let me know what you guys think! Any suggestions are appreciated. ![]() ![]() I'm still contemplating on what plants to use. I would really like to put a Downoi in the back left on the "hill". Finding this plant has been a royal pain in my side... I may get a chance at one on Monday. I'm thinking of putting Fissedens on the manzanita and maybe doing a carpet of mini-pellia up front and possibly a tight grouping of Rotala 'Nanjenshan' in the back Right near the intake growing up through the manzanita. What do you guys think? It is going to be strictly a cherry shrimp tank. |

looks good man. fissedens on the wood would look awesome. do it! i wish i would have. you might want to add some more substrate on the right side. you could have a hard time trying to get stems to stay down. downoi can be really hard to find sometimes. just keep looking. you've got a good start there. should look great with plants.

I love the tank man. Just started made my 20H planted with Amazon Sword and Hornwort. I went with the black sand too but I think you just inspired me to paint the back black. Can you tell me what kind of paint you used.
thanks, will |

Finally got some plants in!
I wrapped Fissidens on the manzanita, planted a 'Green Gecko' cryptocoryne, and there is some mini-pellia sandwiched between that perforated stainless steel. I'm still waiting on my nano diffuser to come in, but I think I'll hook up my DIY CO2 and run it into the filter tomorrow until the diffuser comes in. I also have some very small downoi on the way... I'll probably replace those with the crypt when they get a little bigger. Thoughts/Concerns/Comments??? Love it/hate it? ![]()

have you thought about adding some stems? HM would look nice in the back right. besides your mini-pellia, what are your plans for the foreground? that moss is gonna look sweet when it grows in some. i just got a one gallon vase that plan on trying out soon. lol, i have no idea what to do with it though. it always seems easier to give others advise.
