Question

Need an outside opinion

Hey gang,
I started my very first paludarium, after feeling I've done well with my 3 saltwater tanks, and my brackish. I've stoned the back, ran a huge filter for optimal water movement, and though I had a great idea for caves and a platform for some poison dart frogs that I hope to house along with some (I'm thinking) salamanders. But, im stuck and need some ideas. I am working with about 125 gallon tank (72'x20'x18'), and need ideas to cover the "egg crate" I used to support my ledge (images included). Here is what I've thought....

1) Use stone to "sandwich" the egg crate. Not going this route, unless nothing else comes up. Thinking it may be a bit too much stone.

2) Build wood "closets" to put around the egg crates, not crazy about this idea for the basic visual aspect of it.

To be honest, I just got to thinking about it last night and I've gotten so much great advice/ideas for my brackish planted tank, I'm hoping you all can help me.

I think your expectations might be a bit unreasonable, DJ. Afterall, it's barely been 48hrs since you posted that, not to mention it's a holiday and folks are likely spending time with their families, vice being on the computer. :thumb:

As for ideas, it's really difficult to discern from your photos what you are working with here, so I'd think you'd likely get more comments if you show a full tank shot so the reader has a better picture. Just a thought...

Have you thought about continuing with the foam and then molding/shaping/painting it like the DIY backgrounds some folks do. You could even do a mix of foam and natural rock/stone.

If some of the egg-crate is in the water area, you should consider using mosses to cover it.
