The crypt looks like it might be crypt spiralis. I have some huge ones in my 55g.

Looking Good Dan. A Crypt foreground Carpet over time would be extremely cool, maybe even a java moss carpet.

I agree. Looks like the C. Spiralis I have in my 55g as well. I have them in the back corner where they are running rampant.

Sounds good. Looks good.

Dwarf puffers are great. No pots/caves?
Is the sessiliflora in the pic, can't see it?
For some reason crypt wendtiis are twice as expensive at my local petsmart than all my other lfs, covered in algae and melting leaves too.

the sessiliflora is in the back left behind the R. Indicia. I hope to grow the crypt wendtisis into a carpet.... from 1 I have 3 in little over 2 weeks!

As far as pots and cave go, my puffs never used it when I had one!

Well, here is what the tank looks like today:

I spent 9 days in punta gorda for ABC National news covering the hurricane. When I came back all the Limnophila sessiliflora had melted away (Maybe due to my hard water?). Anyway, I replaced them with some Java ferns (lace var.) and trimmed and replanted the r. indicia.

When I came back, I also had a harsh case of bga. Slime everywhere. I assume this is because of a power outage??? Anyway, just wanted to update everybody!

Default 10 Gallon Journal Disater/Recovery

Well, today while cleaning my office (the home of my 10 gallon tank) I dropped a walkie talkie and it hit the front of my tank. CRAAAAAAAACK!!!!
Water started to spurt everywhere. I found that if I kept pressure on the glass that the leaking stopped, so I drained the tank and put all occupants, fish, inverts, and plants into 5 gallon buckets.

Well, this ended up being a blessing in disguise. I was not happy with the Fluorite Red (clown puke) and not happy with the aqua-scape so this was the, ummm, motivation I needed!

So now I have given up on the biotope and here is the tank as it is now!

I plan to let the pygmy chain spread as a lawn, and replace ALL the stem plants that are in there just to soak up nutrients with nicer plants. I want a plant like E. Stella but size appropriate to a 10 gallon and maybe some other nice stem types. I do plan on keeping the Crypt. Growing in front of the rocks as it is now...

Any suggestions are welcome!

So after just throwing the plants in after my mini disaster, I decided to do a little bit of aqua-scaping to get the general idea of where I want to take this tank. Let me know if you guys think I am going in the right direction.

Once the tank settles down I want to keep the slope in the back and left side wrap around of 1 or 2 species of stem plants. I would rather them be green. Where the green is now, I want to put maybe 1 bunch of rotala indicia or magenta. Any thoughts on what would make a good stem plant for this project?
