I have been having a little growth on one of my limnophila Aromatica that looks like this... Is this a sign of nutrient deficiency?

Also i cant seem to get the L aromatica to purple up or even get red on the undersides of the leaves... do i need more nitrate or just wait till it establishes itself a little more?

i have been dry dosing 1.5 tsp kno3/.5 tsp kh2po4/.5 tsp csm+b/ .5 tsp Fe chelate all 3x a week with a 50% waterchange on sundays

Notice the "krinkled" leaves.

Crinkled leaves, twisted growth, etc. usually turn up for me if I have a CO2 issue - overgrown tank causing lower flow, more surface agitation than usual due to not topping off, etc. When I correct CO2 new growth is no longer deformed.

according to my drop checker my co2 is up on the higher side... it turns light green/yellow

i have very little surface rippling as my returns to my tank come into the bottom of my tank

all of my fish seem to be good with the oxygen content in my tank also...

edit: the growth didnt seem to be twisted at all either if that helps at all? it was larger than normal though...it is also only on this particular stem in this spot

I think your Aromatica might be light as you've placed in the take ends of the tank. Try moving a stem to the middle under the light to see.

i will try that, seems like the most logical answer so far

it seems to be starting to get a little color as of tonight but i dont know for sure...
i just started dosing the iron chelate last week to see if that would help maybe it just needs a little more time to show change

ok just read that reds might not even be a "good" thing... as long as i have good growth im ok with it

some of the colors aquarium plants produce in a tank would not be normal in nature. These are from an over abundance of light, nutrients or CO2. Some say the red color produced by some plants is a reaction to protect itself from the intense light.

yea that's pretty much what was inferred from what i read.. More that it can be induced by starving the plant of nitrogen but also can show up in high light with good levels of ferts etc...
basically it can be induced in many ways

but its not necessarily because they are optimal conditions for the plant

also the hc has been filling in little by little... the discus also uprooted a bunch with a crazy mad dash from being startled

That is a nice bunch of discus. Where did you get them? I am looking for discus for my 125.
It looks like your hc got off to a good start. Hopefully the discus will let it fill in without tearing it all up.
