The light is here and its really nice. Just one (temporary) problem, they sent the wrong bulbs. I e-mailed them and they said they will send the correct bulbs right out. With this light and a couple of timers I can simulate sunrise and sunset, pretty neat!

I ordered 2ea 6500k and 2ea Plant Growth Bulbs. I'm quite happy with these bulbs. If I would change anything it would be to go with all 4 Plant Growth Bulbs.

Sunrise/Sunset?

I have 2 Timers set 15 minutes apart , but that is so they dont get all 165 watts in one blast and blow an eye ball out !  .... is that what you mean ?

I have 2 timers also, 1 is set to go on at 10:30am and turn off at 11:00pm, the other set to turn on at 11:00am and turn off at 10:30pm.
I call it a 11.5hr photo period because both lights are only on for that long, actually its longer but 30 min sunrise and 30 min sunset.

If you had one provide the sunset and one provide the sunrise then they would "burnout" at equal rates. Right now one is going an hour longer than the other, am I right? Not sure what kind of difference this would make, but if you replace all the bulbs at once, it would be more efficient to run one from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and the other from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

How's the temperature on those lights?

I keep the air conditioning at 80 degrees in the summertime, and and that begins in April here. So, I am a bit concerned about heat build up. the 29 gallon with one 55 watt PC has gone to 81 degrees and you know that it is hard to hold the CO2 at high temperatures.

Has anyone had these lights through the summer and had too much heat?

Maybe I should just order it with fans since I'm concerned....

The solar hood lays right on my glass top and it hasn't raised the tank temp a bit. I may add a fan but only to extend bulb life.
