Its unfortunate. Perhaps his personal issues are in the way.

We should reschedule it and change the location to a more convenient one.
Maybe Union Square would work better. Theres a Whole Foods if anyone gets the munchies and a bunch of other stores around if anyone wants to shop before/after.

As for time, Saturday sounds good to me. Noon/afternoon whatever.

I agree on that point, the first meeting really should be at a more convenient location. And no knock on drtran, but I think if we really were to get a club started, there should be a more capable organizer.

The Whole Foods in Usq is always crowded, but there's a deli with upstairs dining around the corner (on University I think) that may be better. Anyone want to scout this out?

There's also a great indoor public atrium on Lexington Ave & 53rd St.

Anyone think the PetCo by Usq would be open to an aquarium club using one of its meeting rooms on an off night? They're at 212-358-0692.

I like hanging out at B&N but I'm not sure if a lot of noise there would be acceptable :P

I didn't even know Petco has meeting rooms. I usually just head for the stairs or detour through the adoption section.

Do you mean the atrium in the Citigroup building?

Sorry about that. I forgot to update this thread before I left. Some members told me timeing wasn't right for them. Also there didn't seem to be much intrest so I was gonna let it snowball. I left for a ski trip and forgot to update this.

But now that there seems to be more intrest, how about on the 30th?

Lets see how many people wanna meet up. I say at least 10 people to make this a feasible meeting. So how about it?

Just post here if u like but please send me a pm so I can have a list of people who are coming.

Theres never going to be a time thats perfect for everybody. The important thing is to get it started. The first meeting can be small at least its a beginning.

I'd be interested, preferably a location in Manhattan. Anyone want some free Myriophyllum mattogrossense?

Of course. But the thing is that it isn't feasible to only do a meeting for 3 people. So I decided to postpone it.

I went upstate for a little while. It was great. Some of my friends spent more time in the hot tub than in the snow. It was my first time but it was awesome.

But sadly today I was just walking in soho and i pivoted my knee just a little too hard and something poped. I can't walk right now and im contemplating on going to the emergency room right now. Insurance problems are a pain. It was also a knee I hurt before.

I might be absent for the first meeting but I have someone else to cover me if I am. So don't worry and as they say "The Show Must Go On!"

So this meeting will happen with or without me.

Also this first meeting is planed for Astoria. We will be moving it around so don't worry its not always going to be in queens.

It is going to be Saturday 1/30/10 at 3 pm. The starbucks for sure at 31 st and Ditmars blvd. The starbucks may change but it will be in Astoria.

Please pm if you are going so I can have a list.

Thanks I hope to see you there

I feel for you, I've had knee problems for a decade now.

Does anyone know if there's any LFS near the meeting area? If I go, it'd be nice to knock out a few stores while I'm there.

I can't make the 30th but I'll go to the next one, especially if it's in Manhattan. Glad you're getting this started. It might be a good idea to let someone at the BAS know, or post on other forums -- I'm sure there are other NYC people who would be interested.

I'm game....Prefer Union Square...Just got back from there...they had some Orange Bee shrimp for $4.99....not bad, but 90% of their tanks have ich & dead fish:-(

also they had some Kelloggi sehorses for $25/ probably net-raised from Viet-Nam, but they were adorable @ about 2.5-3in.
