How to propagate Amazon Sword

I am wondering can I separate a large amazon sword into two smaller ones. My sword is growing really large.

No. The plant puts out new plantlets on a long runner. All you can do is prune it down. How large is your tank? swords tend to outgrow most tanks...even my 75 gallon could not contain a melon sword after 4 months...i had to sell it for LFS credit

I will move it to my 55 Gal tank. Now it is in a 20 Gal tank.

I have had some large swords start to develop two "centers". I believe you could split them at that point, but have never done it myself.

I have done what putty has mentioned in the past. I don't know if it is recommended but it seems to work out well, both plants grew very well after the split.
