shallow 1.5g tray

Picked this little guy up recently on vacation. Roughly 1.5g.
Water tested it for leaks last night. Looks good.

I've been thinking bout trying a wabi-kusa style. If not I'm going to try some kind of small paladrium by hiding the hob filter with a make shift water fall.

I have a few questions:

I've read on some forums about finding river soil as substrate for the wabi-kusa ball. Since I live in the city, it's pretty hard to get to a river. Are there alternatives to this?

Does Java/Taiwan/Xmas moss grow emersed?

I probably have more questions but can't remember them now. I'll post more in this thread after

thanks!
