Mix flourite with sand?

How do you guys think of the idea mixing flourite with some sand? Using pure flourite is really expensive for a 55 Gal tank.

I would not mix it with sand but I have mixed it with coarse sand 1-2 mm in size with good results.

I've mixed flourite with tahitian moon sand and have obtained good results. 30g long, 1x96w PC 1x15w T8NO. Co2 injected.

Flourite and light colored sand will look bad..they won't stay mixed for long...the sand will go to the bottom, with flourite on top.

Rex's idea of pea gravel is much better, as it will 'blend' together better, and visually the flourite will start to look like bits of pea gravel.

If it was me, I'd spend the cash for all flourite. I went thru 6.5 bags of fluorite when setting up my 75 gallon.
