Plant Planting/aquascaping guide?

This may sound kinda dumb

but is there a website or a guide somewhere out there where someone can go and see how to properly plant certain types of aquatic plants? For example lets say you just got some plants in and you need to know how to plant it properly into either the substrate or a piece of driftwood to get the best growing results. Another thing that would be nice is info on what types of plants should not be put into the substrate or what types of plants can be grown on pieces of wood or rocks (i.e out of the substrate).
