LED for nano tank
I'm looking for the cheapest LED setup that will provide sufficient light for high light plants in a nano aquarium 12 inches deep. Thanks in advance.

There isn't enough information there to answer the question. I doubt that it is what it is advertised to be, since it makes the claim that it pays for itself many times over every year in energy savings. I would take it seriously if it said, "provides 100 micromols per square meter per sec of PAR at a distance of 12 inches" or something comparable to that. Since it uses 225 LEDs they have to be very low wattage, low lumen output LEDs. If it used the currently available 1 watt LEDs it would cook the plants!

These are 225 ~0.06w LEDs - About 14 watts. These LEDs are nowhere close to being able to penetrate the water deep enough. They'd be perfect for floating plants tho
I'd recommend at least 1w LEDs, preferably just spring for 3w crees and dim them down if needed. I'm running that on my nano, not dimmed. |

Nah, if you want to go with LEDs that can actually penetrate water and be good enough for plants you're going to have to go DIY, or spend $800+. Or you could go with your original 225 LED fixture and just do a low light / low tech tank and see how it pans out.
