7lb of flourite but only 1 inch of flourite?in 5g

hmmm my 5g is 14.5 by 7.5 inches at the base and i used 7lbs of flourite but i only have a inch thick layer of flourite. I used the calculator on the site and it says 7lbs and on the bag it says its enough for 2 inches for a 10g but i only got 1 inches worth. Is there enought flourite that i should just stick in some gravel since its a cheaper alternative to fill it up to the top?

I think you'll be fine topping it off with gravel. I'm only using gravel and all my plants are doing great, so yours should be even better. Buying another 7 lbs. of fluorite for an inch seems like a waste of $$$ to me. Just my opinion though.

how'd you get 7lbs of flourite? I thought it only came in 15.2lb bags? (that's all I've ever seen, at least)

I think you misread the bag. It says that 7 Kg is enough for a two inch layer in a 10g, which is the whole bag of flourite. You should be fine mixing it w/ gravel to acheive the desired level.

I assumed he was probably thinking that if it gives 2 inches in a 10g, half that ammount should give 2 inches in his 5g. I can't blame him, I would of thought the same thing..
