Default Petsmart is open

The petsmart at broadway and houston is open now.

The tanks looked decent. Fish looked to be better quality than petco union square, but who knows if it will stay that way.
The guy i talked to there said that they tanks had been running for two weeks, and the fish have been in the tanks since saturday.

I'll be in the city on Thursday (by way of Connecticut). I'll definately have to keep an eye open for these great deals. I'm curious though if there's a huge gap in the price ranges between smaller shops and the big chain places. Around here, you're better off with PetCo despite the hit and miss service quality. Wish me luck!

I've seen huge gaps in price in some stores but if you go to the right ones like some mentioned in this thread I don't think it's all that bad

I was at petsmart today (broadway & houston) and saw their fish collection....it's probably only marginally healthier looking than petco's (which is likely only b/c they just opened their doors). But their selection is very small compared to petco's selection. One thing I did notice is that their other supplies (dechlorinators, fish food, etc.) are all a lot cheaper than petco's.

Stopped by the new Petsmart for the first time today, not much in terms of fish, but some of the drygoods definitely are cheaper than Petco. They do stock some stuff Petco doesn't, so if nothing else, at least it'll diversify the overall stock in lower Manhattan.

Stopped by Royal Aqua over the weekend and noticed that they have Rummynoses again!! But they seem to be alot more expensive then I remember them. They are asking $3 or 4/$10. I could've sworn I bought them last time for around $2 or $1.75 each. Ohh well. I might breakdown and get some.

There is a fish store in chinatown on Elizabeth Street (between Grand and Broome) that sells them for $2 each. They also have pretty good prices for Malaysian Driftwood.

is that one still there?? It's the one that's sell tourist nick nacks in front (or at least in the summer) right? Wow. I haven't been in that store in over 5 years, I remember going to it over 15 years ago. I'll check it out then.

I think you're thinking about the Aqua Star on mulberry street. If so, yes, that is still there, but it's NOT the one i'm referring to.

123 Aquarium is the one I'm referring to.

DUH!!! Elizabeth vs Mulberry... Yes I know 123, that's the one in a basement where you have to step down two steps. Hmm.. If it wasn't raining I might stop by, but good to know that they have.

Hi, glad I can contribute. New World Aquarium has scarlet badis and apistos, $40 for the latter. The badis are almost invisible in the 1st bottom tank.
Cheers!

Thanks!
