I stopped by Win today. Nothing special. Panda cories, cardinal tetras ($1-2), serpae tetras, black tetras, glowlights, rainbowfish, cherry barbs, rasboras and all their other usual stuff. Ballon rams $8.50. Java fern with algae.

Pacific was OK. Similar to Win -- panda cories, the usual tetras, plus a nice school of silvertip tetras. And some cool-looking stonefish. Blah. They have a lot of plants, too, but I'm thinking it's more worthwhile to order plants online. Anyone had experience with aquariumplants.com? They're based in SD. I should probably order things from somewhere closer, though.

The big news is that Pacific gets its next large fish order in on May 18th. I asked them about ember tetras and flame tetras. Maybe they'll get some!

All for now.

I've gotten the best deals and best plants from other members on this forum and other plant forums.

I got a couple true siamese algae eaters (sae) at Pacific yesterday. 3 for $5.99.

I asked Pacific about nerite snails. The guy there said people keep asking about them and he doesnt know what they are, but they he'll look into them.

Thought I'd drop my two cents being from NYC as well. There is a LFS on Jamaica Avenue and 116th Street. The name of the store is Cameo Pet Shop and has been in the neighborhood since the late 40's or so the owner says. They have beautiful Endler's Livebearers and an assortment of tetra species. They're a good destination for great looking fish but not much to say about them in the plant department. All in all, the drive to queens is worth it if you folks see the Endler's they have.

UPDATE:
Endler Prices : $3.99 each!

Made a few stops today.

Win
- The usual. Had Sawbwas listed at $1.20, but it looks like they sold out.

Pacific
- Endlers, males $7, females $10, pairs $15. Insane.
- Some stonefish, possibly the Amazon one, not sure. $20
- Panda cories, 3 for $8

New World
- Dwarf puffer $4
- Humphead glassfish $40. Insane.

Petco Union Square
- I haven't been here in awhile, but it looks like they've stocked up on a lot of new plant supplies, AP root tabs, Nutrafin CO2, etc.
- 20lb Floramax $20
- Plant substrate I've never heard of $35
- Ruby vallisneria $2

Whats the best price for dwarf puffers in the city so far? I might get a few more.

Also had anyone see any blue eye fructus or threadfin rainbows in the city? Or even some dario dario?

Threadfin rainbows are usually at Win Aquarium on Mott Street. In two years, I've never seen them out of stock there.

Puffers are usually around $5. I think you need to get yours eating before you get more.

Haha thanks again. I know but these guys are so cute Im thinking of dedicating a 20L just to dwarf puffers. A pack of 8 sounds about right.

I emailed Frank from franksaquarium a few months back and asked if he could get dwarf puffers, he said he was ordering them and price would be pretty low. So you might as well shoot him an email, pretty cool guy and can get nice rare fish. I believe he lives in long island but works in brooklyn aquarium so you can do pick up from either of the locations.

SleepySin -- I'm the tall handsome one.

BK828 -- I've learned to read up on Frank's forum for cool rare fish. It seems a lot of them never make it to his "For Sale" pages cause they're purchased by the people reading his forum. Aquarium Adventures in Carle Place still has the best prices on dwarf puffers during their buy-one-get-one sales, which happen often.
