It's just that one time the guy bang the transfer container really hard to get the otos out, or I don't have luck with algae eaters, I lost 6/7 in the last 6 months...

I bought otos from the Petco in Union Square in September of last year, and they're doing great. I saw otos on Sunday at the Petland on 48th and Northern Blvd. for 1.60 or so, but I don't know what their stock is like or how they handle their fish. I was at petland Nassau st @city hall they have the otos for the same price but they had ich so I didn't get them. My water parameters are fine (0,0,20,ph 6). I always introduce new fish slowly, mix with tank water every 15 minutes for 4 - 5 times before I put them in.

I find Fishtown to be hit or miss. Great variety but not very reliable stock... I still remember the time monster fish and I watched how they did a water change of their cherry shrimp tank in front of us, and how a large portion of the tank croaked on the spot... Honestly, it was kinda sad to witness...

Linsanity, I have to take you fish shopping man... You have to have better luck with ottos... Even my ft ottos from last oct are alive and well... Also try this, When u get home, pour the fish into a container and prime immediately. Then drip acclimate... Should lessen the shock transitioning to your tank.

My luck with amanos haven't been good so I know what u mean...

Got there 5:30 and got 3 otos for $1.5 each, didn't go to the other FS didn't want to stress them longer.
I was there 6:30 many times and he was close, I thought he went on a long vacation or out of business, then one Friday I got there at 6 and he was there, that's how I know he close early before I found this forum, lol

Not sure about habrosus, but petco in union square sometimes gets pygmys

I've never seen them locally. When I was in pet shant,NJ, I saw habrosus and the pymeus there. I ordered my pygmys from msjinkzd, she always has both.

All my Amanos from Petco are alive, the ones I got from 123 never seemed to have grown... and I had them for over 8 months now. they're as large as CRS.

I'll be checking out Petco Un Sq tomorrow, not buying anythign but can keep an eye out for anyone to save you a trip or so.
