Are you the infamous Fishtank guy(s)? LOL

There's some awesome spanish restaurants there!

Google maps may be off by a block or two sometimes. I made a wrong turn going to Golden aquatic because they were located on the otherside of the street and down two blocks...

There used to be a nice aquarium shop on Queens blvd on the same block as the chinese bakery and glass cutting place (across from seamans, now raymour and flanigans). The shop closed but i never knew if they relocated or just outright closed. I drove past there but never made it inside, Parking is impossible on that street.

I loved the idea of a LFS across the street, but sadly they closed. they didnt have much, some random plants, but they had shrimp. Nothing special though.

I guess I can call the fishtank guys and see where they actually are. lol.

It's called kings Aquarium and it's on 18th between 71st and 72nd. I work on 18th and 70th on the weekends and i go in there all the time. I've posted about it. Is this the place your talking about?

It's a decent store but crazy prices, I've yet to purchase something from there.

Hey Fisherman,

Werent these the largest cherry shrimp youve seen at a LFS? for me, they were the largest ones ive seen ever! Definitely adults and not juvies or peewees.

ok, for the record. the worst shop that in the area has to be U.S. Pets in Whitestone; off the Van Wyck Expressway, next to Whitestone lanes. Many of the tanks literally have 1 or no fish. Its clear they make their money on dog sales.

Save yourself the trip if you are heading that direction.

Went to the Hydroponics Garden Center in Queens for the first time today, right off the LIE exit 24 heading west. Was always curious what kind of stuff was in there. They've got tons of stuff for hydroponics (obviously) if anyone is interested. Little pots for aquatics plants for $0.29 each, the ones we're used to seeing. A lot of other goodies for riparium setups.

Some lighting equipment too, but they focus on the heavy duty stuff. We're talking about 1000W metal halides and pressure sodium lamps. Little overkill for us fish people.

Way too many... and with a passion. I was the same with my cars.

I like being out and about and the kids love coming along.

The only thing i cant get my head around is the fascination with those $1000 meat head cichlids. I guess if i were rolling in dough maybe i'd look at those things more fondly... Not!
