need help finding 27gals!!

wake up to hear my filters making some weird noises. run out to the living room to see that my tank is half emptied. quickly unplug everything. notice that the co2 tubing, that i some how forgot to take out of the tank while i removed the co2 to be refilled, has siphoned out the water. the mystery of it all is where did 27gals go. the floor was dry, nothing seemed wet except a t-shirt that was lying next to the tank.

i went to bed around 2am. tank was normal. woke up at 8am. tank was half full. it was extremely hot and dry in my place that morning. could it be possible that it emptied and evaporated all in 6hrs. or is it possible that my downstair neighbors could have a kiddie pool in their living room?

does anyone know where i can find my 27gals?

Ugh. I had a nightmare about that last night. Just setting up a new 20g and am completely paranoid about leaks...

My guess would be the neighbours have a kiddie pool in the living room

My guess too... 27 gallons is a lot of water to evaporate and wake up with a dry carpet!

Default No Way!

No way it evaporated! I think the neighbor downstairs is going nuts trying to find what is leaking into his wall or closet or whatever.

Wow, hope that doesn't happen to me
Would be really awkward to knock on neighbor's door and say "Do you have a leak? Sorry, its my fish tank"
some bad scenario's would be that the water damaged some electronic equiptment and they say you have to pay for it all.
Wow, that would suck. But confronting them is honesty at least and you should do it.

I hope you have renters insurance. And if so, I hope they cover anything like that for you. Best of luck with it!

I gotta believe my recommendation might differ depending on whether the downstairs neighbor were an attractive young woman, or a hulking outlaw biker...

Aren't we overlooking the possibility of a breach in the time/space continuum? I suspect tachion particles are undoubtely involved.

Maybe the neighbor had a half full tank and woke up to find that it was full , and was thinking it was pretty crazy.

i wish jake was right but im assuming that my downstairs neighbor has a kiddie pool. if i get enough courage, i might actually go down there and check it out. he/she was blasting music at 2am so im not feeling that sad about it.

I have seriously considered drilling a hole in the floor in my projected location and installing a drain to outside or in the crawlspace just in case this ever happens! I still remember waking up when I was a kid to the sound of gurgling water to discover that the 10 gallon tank in the room divider at the foot of my bed had developed a leak. It was a very wet night as I remember.

The water could have run along the floor joists and ended up somewhere else...or down the inside of a wall...might not show up as a puddle.

As you aren't overly fond of the most likely victims, I think you should pretend you didn't notice that you misplaced 27 gallons and act very suprised if you hear about it showing up somewhere else and wonder if it could possibly have been yours.

You'd best get 27 new gallons!

As my daddy used to say, always plead ignorance, cause they'll certainly believe you capable of it!
