I try to minimize the disturbance of the water surface in my tank to keep the CO2 in the water, but will alot of CO2 escape if the surface is moving a little bit, without splashing though? Im asking because the green surface scum is building up very fast in my tank. How is the movement on the surface in your tanks??

I think too much is made of surface disturbance. If your co2 diffuser is efficient then you should be getting a good level of co2 disolved in your water even with moderate surface agitation.

If I had it to do over again I would use a wet/dry filter with a sump. There is just too much equipment to have all in my tank. Anyway, with corner boxes the surface would constantly be agitated. If your co2 is coming out of an airstone and floating right to the surface then I could see why you wouldnt want much agitation, but with a good diffuser you'll be fine. If not then my tanks wouldnt be pearling. On my 55g I have the return of my fluval just beneath the surface making lots of waves .
