hello all. well here is my question. im sorry if it seems basic, but very new to all this.
i have a 20gal thats newly planted. mainly amazon swords. i have a co2 bottle feeding into the intake of my filter. for lighting im using the florecent fixture that came with my tank. i've gone to other forums and all they say is. oh get the SLDKJF or SLDKJFWO or BLAH. hehe :P so what i did was look around and all i see are more abreviations. like PC or hehe ok now im confused... can someone please tell me in black and white what i need as far as it goes with lightning. name of bulb/brand ... wattage.. how long i should keep it on... right now my light is on with a timer set to go @ 8:30am - 8:30pm.. but ya, any type of suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.. thanks |

Hey Projekt107 welcome to the board!!! Don't it isn't hs complicated as you think it is.
First off what kind of bulb do you have in your tank right now??? Is it short stubby and pear shaped or is it long and thin?? Do you know how long it is in in.?? If it is short and pear shaped it is incadescent and will not be good. However if it is long and skinny it is probably a normal flourescent bulb. PC means power compact. They are a great type of lighting to use if you need high intensity over a small area. PC's look like a long thin 0. YOu should probably have your lights on for around 8-10 hours. Feel free to ask anymore questions or tell me if I left anything out. Kyle

hehe thanks for the help.... ummm the light i have is a floresent light.. wattage.. im not sure.. all i know is that it came with the 20gal starter kit from "TOP FIN" hehe PetSmart had a sale :P for my tank.. which light would you recommend would be the best for my $. oh ya and how many watts should i get?
