I bought a miniaqualight for my 2.5 gallon. The aqualight box says to place the light directly on the glass aquarium cover. The light gets pretty hot and I am worried about the glass cracking. Are the glass aquarium covers heat resistant? I am afraid of water splashing the hot glass and cracking it, and then having the light fall into the tank.

I put 2 fixtures ODNO on top of my glass cover and haven't got problem for the last 6 month. The glass cover is too hot to touch but somehow doesn't warm up the water. No cracking and such. I plan to put spme rubber feet or gasket though so at least I can touch the cover.

The only part of the cover that seems hot is directly under the light. Hopefully it isn't as hot as it seems and the light will not hurt the glass.
