Has anyone experienced a green water bloom after
introducing 50 malaysian trumpet snails into a tank ? I have had a 55 gal planted tank for 1 year, which I suspect has fair amount of detritus in the gravel. To make my life simpler during water changes (no gravel vacuum), I decided to add MTS. But after I added MTS, green water occurred. pH 6.8 kH 8 gH 8 NO3 7 PO4 .3 floramax substrate, 150 W 10 hr/day, pressurized CO2. Anyone with similar experience ? Is this just the tank rebalancing due to the extra bioload ? or is it MTS going wild processing the detritus ? Thanks. |

Sounds to me like the little guys kicked up some nutrients. I think that they are 'innocent' of the bioload accusation
