180 gal. tank with stand = +/- $400 -500

Hundreds of Anubias b.nana petite - lets say 200 x $ 2.50 = $500

Hundreds of CRSes, lets say 300 x $1 = $300

Now Stiphodons are at the average $10 ea.( I've seen his tank!) and there are at least 40 Stiphodons = $ 400

Other equipment and lights I estimate to be worth at least $ 300

There are a large clumps of Cryptocorynes and a lot of Narrow Java Fern as well as three pieces of intricate cypress stumps overgrown with Nana petites, not to mention about 200 stems of Ludvigia 'Red" hybrid, which still sell on this Forum for $2 ea....

So what's there to laugh about?

I wasnt laughing, but think its very pricey. If you were to sell each and every shrimp/plant/equip separate, then you might be able to make close to $1k.
But bundled together, I'd want some heavy discounts.
Just saying, if I had $1,000 to blow on a new setup, I'd be able to put together something MUCH nicer with that budget. And it would be all new stuff too.

Where are the anubias or cypress? If you want 1000 dollars for something the least you could do is take a decent pic. I don't see any anubias in that pic. I don't even see the whole tank in that pic. Let alone the things that are making this a 1000 dollar tank.

Wait, I maybe see some anubias in the center.

Define "hundreds" of them. Are we talking hundreds of leaves? Or what?

He has RCS, not CRS. They are not 1 dollar per shrimp. Particularly with hundreds of them.

I can without a doubt say that there are not 500 dollars in plants in that aquarium.

I do not want those plants. Particularly if you and the seller think there is 500 dollars in plants in there.

The fact that the picture isnt even of the 1000 dollar aquarium in question makes it even more relevant to this thread.

The thing is, Craigslist is a sea of lowballers and people thinking you should be selling something for nothing. It's a seller's market, and I for one know Craigslist is not where you can get $1000 for a planted tank with a poor image and incomplete equipment and livestock details. Tell him he can make his money parting it out and selling it on the S&S. You'll come around the 1G mark a lot closer than on Craigslist.

CL is not the place to try and get face value or more. You can itemize everything in that tank line by line and framed in 8x10 glossies and it won't matter. Better off parting out the hardware, selling the fish on their own, plants in packages and hope to whatever deity you pray to that with a thorough cleaning you will get half of what the tank is worth because pretty much everyone knows you can buy it brand new at PetCo on a dollar per gallon sale which happens quite often really cheap. Period, end statement. Not for nothing but there is no way that will get $1k unless the person who buys it is not doing their homework and if you are in any way serious about owning a tank at that level you know your stuff to a certain degree and darned well know that is way overpriced.
