Does USPS mail get processed on holidays?

I know USPS mail is processed, in some areas, on Sundays, but is it processed on holidays at all?

I'm talking about it being delivered, but moving around to their destination sorting facilities.

Too bad Rex is out, he'd probably know!

Have u called USPS or ask ur mailman? That way you'll definately get a good correct answer.

I called the 1-800-ASK-USPS number three times.

1st: She said yes, mail gets processed on holidays.
2nd: She said she didn't think so, but it's only a day, so what's the problem?
3rd: Said no, mail doesn't get processed on holidays, so add a day to everything.

I see your point, that sounds like my internet company:

1st: Yeah you can get faster DSL!
2nd: Sorry but your area doesn't allow our faster speeds!
3nd: Can you please hold while I ask one of our technicians? (Aren't YOU one of them?)
4th: Yeah I can but don't tell anyone k? (My kinda woman)

I think on certain holidays they will while some holidays they won't.

From my experience, i once got a package shipped and it came on the forth day priority so I'm guessing the holiday didn't count.

Yo Eppy

Just asked the mailman. He doesn't speak english that well so I sort of understood him but not completely, but I think I got what he's saying.

Example of what I think I understood:

For example you ship priority, for the sake of all examples, lets say the full time from shipment to delivery is 3 days. From what he said, I understand this.

Lets say there's a holiday on Tuesday and you ship early Monday, if the package catches at least the last shipment of the day, it'll go to your destination even during holidays. However, if you miss the last schedule shipment time of Monday and it hits the day of the holiday (Tuesday), it'll remain there and the packages will all just stay there waiting to be shipped when the holiday is over. So if it misses the shipment, the holiday won't count and the day you gave it to the post office.

So basically-

Monday (hits one of the last scheduled shipping of that day) then it'll ship through the holiday and arrive on Maybe Wednesday or Thursday.

If it misses it, you add an extra day or so. So just ship it early and not on a long holiday, in which no packages will be delivered even if they did arrive at their destination. That's why many times after a holiday if you buy multiple items, you end up getting a bunch of them at once.

I'm a mail processing clerk.

Yes mail moves on weekends and Holidays. Clerks and transportation work on holidays, but not fully staffed because mail doesn't have to be sorted for house to house delivery. Carriers are the only ones off completely.
